A Match of Wits

Hey, Folks!

I have spent the time since my last post reading the “Ladies of Distinction” series by Jen Turano. Her latest release “A Match of Wits” was granted to me free of charge by Bethany House Publishers, in exchange for my honest thoughts about the title. I discovered that this was the most recent volume in a series that I had not read yet, so I started at the beginning. I am glad I did. Technically, I suppose these stories could each be read on their own, but enjoying them as a group gave me a deeper appreciation for the characters.

“A Match of Wits” takes place in 1883, and tells the tale of Agatha and Zane. Agatha, an intrepid reporter for The New York Tribune, is surprised to discover that her old friend Zane did not end up staying with his near fiancée in California and is now mining in the hills of Colorado. She decides that the west does not agree with him,  and determines to drag him back home. Zane is the last person to agree with this plan, until spending time with Agatha reminds him how much he thrives on their spirited debates. Once they reach their destination, it becomes apparent that his lady friend’s recent exploits has earned her more than one dangerous enemy. Will he able to figure out which one wants to hurt her before something terrible happens? Can Agatha trust that the still present romantic feelings she has never lost for Zane have been part of God’s plan all along?

Fans of Christian historical romance with a touch of mystery will devour this author’s work. The important biblical teachings residing within the pages make it appropriate for everyone to hear, but it will most likely resonate with those twelve years and over. People who get lost in the fiction of Julie Lessman,  Karen Witemeyer,  and Julianna Deering should heed  this recommendation. The reading order of these novels is as follows:
Gentlemen of Her Dreams (Ladies of Distinction #0.5,  ebook short story.)
A Change of Fortune (Ladies of Distinction #1)
A Most Peculiar Circumstance (Ladies of Distinction #2)
A Talent for Trouble (Ladies of Distinction #3)
A Match of Wits (Ladies of Distinction #4)
My  rating for the last installment is five out of five stars, so go out and pick up the entire saga today! Until we meet again…
Happy Reading,
