I just finished reading Katie Ganshert’s newest offering “A Broken Kind of Beautiful.” This title was given to me free of charge through Crown publishing’s “Blogging for Books” program. In exchange, I am providing my honest assessment. With her 25th birthday fast approaching, Ivy Clark finds herself at a crossroads. Having lost a major cosmetics contact, she has no choice but to return to the south and model for her stepmother’s bridal boutique. In coming back to the place where she spent many summers during her childhood, she runs into old friend Davis, who, despite vowing never to pick up a camera again, has agreed to do the photography for the charity fashion shoot. Can he show Ivy there are people who care about more than her ability to look pretty in front of a lens? Will she allow the God she has been running from for years to mend her hurting heart?
This is the first story I have read by Katie Ganshert. I am happy to promote a tale with an awesome combination of breathtaking romance and a profound Christian message. It is appropriate for everyone to enjoy, but will probably appeal most to women and teenage girls. My favorite element was the achingly believable characters the breathed life into, and I find myself still pondering them long after I have moved on to other pursuits . I recommend this volume for fans of contemporary romance authors like Karen Kingsbury. My rating is a we’ll deserved five out of five stars. If you love thought provoking literature, do not hesitate to seek this one out today! Until we meet again…
